Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) – President Barack Obama said his support for the right of a Muslim group to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site isn’t necessarily an endorsement of the project.
“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there,” Obama said yesterday in Panama City, Florida
17-year-old Aden Aliu, was walking along 103 Avenue in Surrey on Wednesday morning with a group of friends. The teens were slashing cars tires and had “dented in the doors of a vehicle” according to police. The group was then confronted by the suspect two blocks later. The 20-year-old allegedly opened fire, killing Mr. Aliu.
While police and the mainstream media are referring to young Mr. Aliu as the “victim”, it seems to us here at Dull Tools that he and his pals were the criminal thugs, and that the 20 year old who shot him was doing the rest of us a favor. Never-the-less he is charged with 2nd degree murder. That’s “justice” in the 21st century folks.
But, on the other hand, the gentleman charged with shooting Mr. Aliu, Steven Brandon Mulligan-Brum, is decribed by police as being “involved with a number of local gangs”. So maybe we got a 2-fer! Two trashy punks removed from our streets. Woo hoo.
It doesn’t get much more convoluted than this. The CEO of a major corporation makes statements in his capacity as CEO – and the a company spokesperson (who one would expect to be reporting to the CEO) says that the CEO statements do not reflect the view of the corporation. Got that? No?
Well, that is exactly what happened when GE CEO Jeff Immelt told a private gathering of fellow business people this week that, “I really worry about China. In the end I am not sure they want any of us to win, or to be successful.” Immelt went on to offer more criticism of China, and topped it off with some off the cuff dissing of Obama.
Don't just stand there. Somebody help me get this thing off of my head!
According to our sources, buried deep within the ABC news organization, “It is no exaggeration to say that so far, the Rod Blagojevich corruption trial has been a media circus.”
Mubarak’s government on Tuesday rejected an Israeli proposal that would leave Gaza entirely dependent on Egypt for goods and access.
“This kind of talk confirms what we have been saying for years, which is that there is official Israeli thought which aims to evade responsibility for the Gaza Strip and dump it on Egypt,” a spokesperson for the foreign ministry in Cairo said.
“I regret this whole situation. I gave people the opportunity to talk about something petty and superficial. And this is a very serious election year about serious issues,” Fiorina said. “You know, what I think I owe the voters is a commitment to stay focused on facts, on issues and on the things that really matter, and I will keep that commitment to the voters.”
I've got more important things to do with my money than worry about my hair. It takes serious money to support my adult son.
If you were thinking about calling up Warren Buffet to make a lunch date, you might want to think again! It could cost you more than two million dollars.
SAN FRANCISCO—The eleventh annual charity auction of lunch with Berkshire Hathaway Inc. CEO Warren Buffett brought in more than $2.6 million on Friday night.
That tally broke the previous record, set in 2008, of $2.1 million by investor Zhao Danyang.
The lunch auction was conducted online by eBay and all proceeds will benefit the Glide Foundation, a charity that helps homeless people in San Francisco. The somehwat cynical editor of DullTools.com wonders what kind of Dull Tool would pay 2.6 million dollars to have lunch with Warren Buffet, but still wishes that all dull tools were as generous as the anonymous bidder for this particular lunch.
Lisa Murkowski, a Republican senator from Alaska had her Dirty Air Act defeated yesterday in the United Sates Senate. Murkowski’s bill would have placed severe limits on the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate emissions of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Fortunately for the planet, the Senate saw the irony of an environmental deregulation bill reaching the floor while oil continues to gush into the Gulf of Mexico from the British Petroleum Deepwater Horizon spill. Unfortunately Alaskan’s seem to be having some trouble seeing the irony of living in America’s most unspoiled State and voting for slash and burn wing-nut women.
As if short people don’t get shit on enough already, a recent study shows that short people are 50% more likely to die of a heart attack or suffer from heart disease than tall people are. Other statistical studies have already shown that short people make less money, have a harder time finding a mate, and are less likely to be elected to public office.
Some people are dull and some people are tools, but sometimes it seems as though the world is overrun by the folks who are both.
Here at Dull Tools we are dedicated to celebrating those exceptional people who go through life blissfully unaware that they ain't the sharpest tools in the shed.
